Success Does Not Define You

Do you define yourself by your success? More specifically, the last important thing you have achieved no matter how many amazing things came before it? You’re not alone.

Today’s society thrives off of achievements. The drive to succeed can and does consume us.

The pattern of constantly doing and achieving has become a super form of endorphin that we crave because our self-confidence is boosted as we are praised and congratulated. Whether it be for the hours of work we have endured to get us this ‘so-called’ success or for the impact of the success itself. For a moment, we might even feel content. But it does not last long.

This becomes a never-ending cycle. We strive and grasp for that next success hoping to feel some relief, if only for a moment. This is what keeps the pattern alive. This is why I have named “doing” as an addiction. Because it has us, we don’t have it.

Whether we do to keep busy, to achieve or to be acknowledged, eventually it takes center stage. We start to forget about our relationships and our health and well being. We start to lose touch with our souls truer desires.

OUR SUCCESS DOES NOT DEFINE US!

When you pull back the layers of what you have achieved, what are you left with? So much!

Are you happy with YOU? What you believe and stand for.
Are you happy with how YOU live? What you have already.
Are you happy with what YOU put first in your life? Who and how you chose to spend your time.

Spend time on these questions and you will see that success is inevitable but more importantly, joy is too.
